Vocabulary: In addition to vocabulary from the novels and short stories we read in class, you will be using Worldy Wise Book 6 as your primary source for vocabulary development. Every other week we will study a new set of fifteen words. You will demonstrate your understanding of the words by incorporating them into your writing, portraying the definition through acting, and taking quizzes.
Book Reports (100 points): Each semester you will be required to read 300 pages and take AR quizzes. NOTE: I MUST BE PRESENT AND AWARE THAT YOU ARE TAKING AN AR QUIZ. If you want to receive credit for your pages, you must print your AR quiz, write the number of pages at the top of it, have me sign it, and turn it in. If your book does not have an AR quiz available, you may orally report it to me, but it must be checked in with me BEFORE you report. You may choose your own novel, but it must be appropriate. If you need recommendations, please ask!
*The book must be at or above your grade level.
*No picture books.
*Books must be 100 pages or more, unless approved by me.
*Books read in class this year and previous years will not count.
Extra Credit: If you read beyond the required 300 pages, you can earn extra credit. The following list includes the required pages in the total. You max out at 30 extra credit points.
600 pages=5 extra credit points
900 pages=10 extra credit points
1200 pages=15 extra credit points
