I can learn a new piece of music on my own!

Hello and welcome to High School Choir!  I am looking forward to a great year of choir! Even with a small group, great music can happen!!

This year we will focus on breathing for singing and proper breath support as well as vowel shapes and consonants!!! 

My goals for the you, the students:

• Have fun learning music and performing some of the songs we learn at concerts and festivals
• Learn fun and effective warm ups that you can use on your own to better prepare your voice for singing
• Increase your confidence in singing to the point you can sing in front of your peers and strangers (adjudicators, students from other schools)
• Have fun singing songs from different eras, languages, and styles
• Start mastering sight reading in a choral setting
• Have fun performing songs at a high proficiency level
• Incorporate choreography when appropriate to the selected piece of music

My biggest goal is to ensure the students have fun!! I did not participate in high school choir, and I regret it deeply. My goal is to get as many kids singing into high school and, hopefully, into adulthood. Singing is as old as talking, and it is what differentiates us from animals.
