Saco Music Mission Statement 

I can learn a new piece of music on my own!

Welcome to 2021-2022 7-12 Band!!!  

My goals for my students.

I want you to be able to:

• sight read music well enough to play notes and rhythms at a grade 2 level (Intermediate) 

• know all your notes and how to play them on your instrument

• refine your tone to sound the best you can, for your grade level!!

• play all the pep band songs that are in regular rotation, even the ones with hard notes and rhythms

I want you to achieve:

• a Superior (I) for the band's festival piece and sight reading

• a Superior (I) in your solo or duet, if you select to do one

• listening to the band and know if you are out of tune, and how to fix it

• an appreciation for music and  its rightful place in our lives, our education, and our society

Most of all, I want to make the band room the place in the school where you have your best memories. Band is a team activity, more so than any other activity we do at school. There is no Junior Varsity band, we are all "on the court" at the same time, performing as a single unit: a band. Nothing connects us to each other better than music. It is the essence of our humanity.
